So last night was an amazing milestone. Reid slept from about 10 pm, give or take, until 6:30 am. That is a world-record shattering sleep achievement unparallelled in Reid history.

To recap, Reid's sleeping hasn't been so great. He has disliked sleep, avoiding it like he was practicing for when he's ten and we're still enforcing some crazy 8:30 bedtime. He sleeps fine in your arms, then shudders, squirms and rapidly departs the land of nod for the waking world of breathless shouting.

In a rapid departure, born of frustration and sleep deprivation, I tried something radical. I am suitably afraid of all the terrible things that can happen to a child if he goes to sleep on his stomach, particularly SIDS. (Second only to the absolutely appropriate fear of stomach sleep is the maniacal zeal of breatmilk advocates. We get the picture! Breastfeeding is the best! Got it!) But with appropriate use of a sleep positioner and with placing the baby's bottom arm out in front of him, side sleep is possible, and it has lead to this miraculous night of continuous sleep.

Sure, convinced that I was the worst parent on the planet, I got up to check on him. Twice. And he was fine and dandy the whole time. So I'm well-rested, finally. I slept through the night, Reid slept through the night, K slept through the night.

We're back, baby!
