Reid has a surprisingly expressive little face. I remember thinking about the overall fear I had about having this little man who couldn't tell me anything, couldn't say, "dad, my foot hurts" or whatever. He was, in this moment of dread before he actually arrived, a little mute. As these photos demonstrate, that couldn't be further from the truth. Sure, he still doesn't say, "why don't you take my onesie off and snap some pictures, weirdo," but he does communicate a lot (mostly "pick me up" and "what was that sound?").

Some more interesting Reid faces, and some family love. Above left is Reid with his Aunt Alia and soon-to-be Uncle Sean. In the center above is Reid with his new second cousin (or something) Giavanna. Gia was born in the first week of August, a month after Reid. Her eyes are really that big, and despite appearances, Reid is not drunk on fortified wine in this photograph. If gave you a dollar for all the bizarre photos I have of these two essentially spineless creatures crashing into each other in that corner of my mother's art-deco couch, I'd make you buy me a nice dinner. This one is both the most amusing and the most adorable. I like to think that Reid is doing an impression of Christopher Lloyd as Reverend Jim Ignatowski from "Taxi." In the next picture Gia and Reid are joined by Gia's older brother Anthony, who, though a small guy looms over these two infants like Andre the Giant. He feels tall for the first time in his life. Gia is not wearing a sock on her right foot and Reid has begun (again) to think about his mother's milk.
